Cedar City, Ut

While working here as the Ground Supervisor I managed 8.5 acres of the high-profile landscape of the Cedar City Temple. A few of the key skills that I learned while working here were, • Human Resources: Worked alongside the HR department to aid in the interviewing and onboarding process for new hires, and also aided in position management for the facility grounds team.• Budgeting: Prepared a six-figure annual grounds budget and managed resources to maintain that budget.• Data Management: Meticulously recorded assets and other facility data that were regularly updated to help facilitate future decision-making.• Acquisition of Equipment: Followed the procurement process and company policies to prove the need for and provide economically sound options to purchase new equipment for the facility.Some of the other duties that I performed. • Gathered and organized data to propose changes to the established design • Selected bids from and worked with contractors to complete various projects• Reduced budget by 20% by researching and implementing economical options• Supervised groups of 10 to 600 volunteers in landscape maintenance tasks• Supervised a team of three full-time employees• Maintained 9 acres of high-end landscape property

I had the privilege of supervising and managing the care of a section of the historic gardens at Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City. Here are a few of the things in which I gained experience while working here.• Maintain immaculate grounds of almost 3 Acres of world-class gardens• Problem-solving to troubleshoot and repair irrigation problems• Identify and treat plant pests and diseases• Learned the details needed to manage the maintenance of a large property• Aid in the preparation and design of annual flower beds• Supervise volunteer events with up to 40 volunteers out of 800• Participated in team planning sessions to improve site design• Created renderings of potential design changes

American Fork, Ut

I helped to maintain immaculate landscapes on two premium properties, the Timpanogos and Draper Temples. Along with basic lawn and plant maintenance, I also fertilized, troubleshot irrigation problems, helped prep and plan annual flower beds, and treated for plant-related pests and diseases. I also had the privilege to help supervise various volunteer events involving up to 80 youth volunteers.While at this position, I was able to learn under the supervision and tutelage of two knowledgeable supervisors and gardeners. From them, I have learned some of the best practices for maintaining and managing the care of these high-class properties.

Provo, Utah Area

I led a team in the development of landscape construction documents for Dugway Proving Ground, a military base in Western Utah. Documents were created using AutoCAD and Adobe Photoshop. I also trained team members in the use of AutoCAD and instructed students on the application of design principles.

I worked alongside six crewmen to begin landscape installations around newly constructed buildings on the campus of Brigham Young University. Our primary responsibility was to transport topsoil to these new sites and prepare a final grade before the irrigation and plant installation. While carrying out these projects, I was trained on and operated machinery such as:► Skid steers► Track hoes► Front loaders► Dump trucks with automatic transmissionWhile soil preparation was our primary responsibility, I was often involved in the construction of concrete features, building retaining walls, laying pavers, and the installation of trees, shrubs, and sod. I was also heavily involved in snow removal, both by hand and by the use of a snow plow.

As a crew member, I worked alongside skilled architects and craftsmen to finalize a high-end residential landscape. Some of the work that I performed are the following:► Installed and repaired irrigation systems including drip irrigation, PVC installation, and sprinkler body and nozzle installation► Helped to establish the final grade for turf and shrub planting areas► Installed turf, shrubs, edging, and mulch

Provo, Utah Area

As a media technician, I worked in a high-stress environment as I helped to prepare and participate in over 100 live video productions. Many of these productions were broadcasted to an audience ranging between 1,300 - 3,500 viewers. The keynote speaker for many of these productions were world-renown leaders and/or high-profile individuals. As such, I developed an attention to detail and professionalism. Some of my responsibilities included the following: ► Acted as a liaison between the meeting director and guest speakers to see that their needs were met and that their experiences were smooth and enjoyable.► Ran all A/V needs including the following: operating cameras, audio mixing, operating a teleprompter, computer projector set-ups, etc. ► Quick problem solving under high-pressure situations were an everyday occurrence. ► Through a rotating schedule between all technicians, I acted as lead technician and delegated shift assignments and worked to ensure smooth media performances for our assigned programs.

Tucanos fosters a fast-paced and professional work environment that is dedicated to guest satisfaction. As a lead meat server, I managed the restaurant floor to ensure that the guests were enjoying quality service from the 12 meat servers that I supervised. I was also responsible for completing all assigned food preparation tasks prior to sending any meat servers home. Balancing these two responsibilities was essential to ensure that the servers did not work excessive hours and to maintain their moral. I provided exceptional customer service. It was not uncommon for me to received a commendable average of 22% in tips each night.I also trained five new employees on company policies, procedures, and skills in order to become effective and efficient servers.

I worked with a crew of five skilled carpenters in restoring and designing custom cabinetry and other wood products for areas around the campus of Brigham Young University. I became more precise in my actions in order to avoid wasted resources. I was trained on and safely used a variety of different woodworking tools and machinery.

I started this business with my brother-in-law, Derrick Wakamatsu. We wanted to make it as much of a business learning experience as possible.
