As Streaming Solutions Architect at Sky I am responsible for Linear content for Sky’s growing portfolio of OTT products. As Sky is one of the leading commercial TV operators in Europe, protecting and scaling the content is key and I redesigned the mobile DRM encryption system and scaled the OTT platform to support future customer growth by a factor of three. The platform has standardised the deployment of OTT services, reducing the time to launch new channels and products, whilst significantly reducing client buffering, which in turn reduces churn.I am motivated to provide customers with the best Over The Top video streaming experience and most recently have been working in the mobile space. My belief is that by going the extra mile with my architectures it becomes something I can be proud to put my name on. My unique skill set includes designing very high performance content delivery platforms for millions of customers and developing and delivering training programmes for operational support, technical and business teams. My approach is to think alternatively and view the architecture from the customers point of view, challenging existing solutions with a fresh perspective, stimulates me to lead teams and delegate as required. I have extensive knowledge in VMware virtualisation and use it where appropriate.I also have developed the concept for Sky's future OTT delivery platform, using the benefit of my SkySports experience. Within a year this was designed and I collaborated with many different stakeholders and this has now become a mission critical platform, which consolidates all of Sky's OTT products. By joining the Sky Network Design team working in the Mobile department as network designer for the first commercial HLS streaming service in Europe, SkySports Mobile TV the opportunity to redesign the platform for high concurrency working closely with Non Functional load testing which improve streaming performance by a factor of two with reduced buffering.
