Coordinated information and knowledge management across CJ2 (Intelligence) and CJ3 (Operations) for NATO ISAF and USFOR-A (US Forces – Afghanistan) impacting operational processes and supporting collaboration portals across the theater. Worked closely with 4-star HQ senior staff officers to implement main COMISAF communications portal. Deployed to various locations across Afghanistan including RC – South HQ at Kandahar and HQ ISAF in Kabul. Took Leave of Absence from IBM to pursue this serendipitous opportunity to gain wartime field experience and write a book about my experiences with Network-Centric Operations and Warfare.

Developed Runtime Service Discovery framework for the Office the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence (OUSDI). This framework will have significant impact on dynamic system integration, cyber-­security and mobile ad-­hoc network management. Software is released as Open Source project under the name Argo (www.argo.ws).

Led a business development sales role and thought-leadership role for the Office of the Federal CTO. Managed the architecture, requirements analysis and implementation of the Global SOF collaboration portal for Special Operations Command (SOCOM) which successfully launched at the 2012 SOFIC Conference.• Demonstrated mobile and cloud computing platform technologies to federal customers, resulting in significant adoption of IBM’s mobile computing platform in the federal space. • Influenced Federal Defense Solution engineering team, expanding scope and architectural possibilities of the Defense Operations Platform.• Presented the “Watson” Artificial Intelligence technology in conjunction with IBM research at various military and intelligence agencies, expanding demand for the technology.

Chief Architect, Enterprise Registry & Repository (ER2 for ODNI)Launched the Enterprise Registry & Repository (ER2) program acting as Chief Architect. Initiated program development for ER2 as industry thought leader on SOA and Network-Centric computing resulting in the sole-source award. ER2 provides Net Centric service and software publishing capability for the Intelligence Community sponsored by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.• Developed prototypes for advanced run-time network-centric SOA infrastructure for military, intelligence and commercial dynamically configurable distributed systems, pushing the envelope of SOA technology.

Chief Architect, thought-leader and technical liaison to the government for the Net-Centric Enterprise Services (NCES) SOA Foundation (SOAF) program for the Defense Information Services Agency (DISA). NCES SOAF is the SOA Infrastructure for the entire Department of Defense. • Directed development and operations teams, creating overall architecture which resulted in the introduction of the fundamental governance infrastructure for DoD SOA services. • Acted as technical liaison for many related programs including Command and Control, Logistics, Intelligence and business systems across the DoD, successfully publishing shared services.

Acted as lead architect and SOA thought-leader for the Federal Sales and Business Development Team. This role allowed BEA to operate as a trusted-advisor at the highest levels within the Federal Government and community of Federal System Integrators.• Provided consulting for the US Military and Intelligence Community (CIA, NSA, NRO, NGA) on Service-Oriented Architectures, Information Assurance and Net-Centric Operations and Warfare, helping shape the direction of various programs and establish BEA as a major player in the SOA infrastructure and Application Server space.

Led team for core engineering, developing the Fusion Server which created an integrated data environment where a single data model would be mapped to many relational data sources. Responsible for 5 developers including architecture and design review, schedule and tasking to create a cohesive team that delivered quality on schedule.

Primary role as Director of Engineering for the Software Products Group of this startup managed service provider. The goals of the position were to establish and construct an architecture and supporting technologies for the automation of the managed service provider business. This included three main areas – AutoDeploy, AutoManage and AutoOptimize.Had a primary responsibility for the development of the Provisioning project. This project was a centralized auto deployment system that allowed for the deployment of applications, data and app configurations to any managed hardware asset on the network. The idea was to remove as much human labor as possible from the software installation and configuration process. This was critically important due to the fact that Logictier was servicing hundreds of servers.

Provided consulting, education and sales support directly with existing and potential customers to expand Excelon’s customer base in XML Database and Object Database technology. Prepared and delivered high-level executive presentations, communicating the vision and possibilities of XML and Object technology as well as doing in-depth architectural analysis and proof-of-concept projects with potential customers resulting in the development of several XML / XSLT applications using XIS, native XML database. Created sales and training oriented CD-ROM based videos demonstrating our product suite. Engaged with Lockheed Martin to develop a prototype real-time naval tactical tracking and display system for the DD21 Destroyer project that can track 1000+ simultaneous flying objects such as planes and missiles both hostile and friendly that significantly advanced the ability for aircraft carrier fleet force protection.

Primary role as a consultant for GemStone’s application server clients, which include Buildscape.com, InterADNet.com, Proxima Systems, Florida Power & Light among others. Extensive experience in architecting and developing EJB (Enterprise Java Bean) applications, component based architectures, Java client applications and thin Web interfaces. Designing Java Servlet technology and dynamic HTML content using both GemStone/J and GemStone/S application servers.
