- Designed and commissioned a high-speed methane sensor based on wavelength modulated spectroscopy (WMS) with a near-IR diode laser to replace the slower commercial methane sensor and achieve a temporal resolution of over 200 Hz- Wrote a control and analysis software to control the sensor electronics, obtain signals, and output the methane concentration (Labview, Python, and Matlab)- Evaluated the sensor performance on a dual-fuel test engine and quantified specifications such as a detection limit, repeatability, response time, and noise sensitivity

- Designed, fabricated, and tuned a steering system that uses braking force differential to steer an indoor self-navigating robot- Tuned the PID control for the steering system and designed the electrical system enclosures and mounts

- Designed and commissioned a custom cylinder head for a combustion visualization research on a dual-fuel optical engine - Performed FEA analysis to verify the mechanical strength- Performed CFD to analyze coolant flow and intake air flow/swirl inside the cylinder- Fabricated the cylinder head by coordinating with foundries and machine shops; Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) applied for casting and machining- Designed and fabricated custom valve train components and a valve cover
