Drove the strategy and execution of introducing a new CEO to our associates in 2018. Developed and oversaw internal engagement plan to maximize the impact of CEO communications, taking a fresh approach to our use of channels and content and encouraging more of a two-way dialogue and bold transparency. Launched wildly successful TEDxNovartis program to share ideas worth spreading. Developed an internal communications measurement framework and oversaw a variety of planning efforts to better align and streamline internal communications across our matrixed organization. Optimized our channel and content strategy to reach our 20,000 people managers.

Managed communications strategy and implementation plan for major organizational changes. Developed fully integrated global content strategy to drive alignment and proactive planning for major events, channels and messages. Introduced monthly analysis of strategic channels to help measure effectiveness and ensure better use of resources. Led content development for Global Webcasts, introducing a streamlined and more engaging story flow and slide design. Participated in special project to re-invigorate the customer experience with Alcon, internally and externally.

After having my first child, I took on a newly-created role that allowed me to better balance my professional and personal lives. In this role, I partnered with Manufacturing and Quality executives to design and implement communications strategies. Collaborated with Global Communications teams to ensure business strategies and change programs were effectively communicated within Manufacturing and Quality– often requiring tailored materials for these unique audiences which don’t have regular computer access. Built and effectively leveraged a network of communications leads at all Manufacturing sites to increase the consistency and quality of communications globally. Coordinated external communications needs across all MTO sites, including highly-visible World Sight Day event at Johns Creek site which resulted in major TV network coverage and participation from the State Governor and 30+ local and state leaders. Managed communications strategy and implementation for 3 site closures, including internal and external communications. Led communications for Johns Creek (GA) site during period of rapid expansion.

Built and managed a team of six and established internal communications as a strategic business function. Developed employee engagement campaign to launch new company strategy and provided communications counsel and support to Executive Leadership Team. Developed and executed communication strategies to support a wide variety of changes (e.g. organization and structure changes, HR policies, IT systems.) Led the development of company purpose statement and designed launch campaign. Worked with communications leaders at the regional and local levels to ensure consistency of messages and to ensure global campaigns and materials are valuable and relevant globally.

Served on the core team to manage communications for the Alcon / CIBA VISION integration as part of the Alcon / Novartis merger in 2011. Developed internal communications strategy, managed integration web site and newsletter, developed and executed all “day one” materials. Developed external and internal communications materials to effectively manage multiple global issues, including a global product recall. Launched new corporate branding strategy and developed a corporate video, brochure and presentation. Led the strategy and execution for a variety of special events, including semi-annual global leadership meetings, global Webcasts for all associates and site-level town hall meetings. Established and managed interactive tools for the leadership team to engage in a dialogue with associates, including a CEO Blog.

Developed and implemented PR plans to support product launches, line extensions and other corporate news. Managed the re-design and ongoing content strategy for the corporate web site. Organized press conferences in conjunction with industry trade shows; managed all aspects of the events from logistics to content. Served as corporate spokesperson and main contact for the media.

Built strong relationships with trade media. Coordinated interviews with corporate spokespeople and served as the key contact for the media. Managed all content for monthly internal newsletter, as well as quarterly results letters. Co-led the development of a new global employee intranet. Managed all news on the intranet as well as ongoing site updates and enhancements. Coordinated community relations efforts, including annual Community Partnership Day as well as United Way campaigns.
