• Senior Technical Specialist, Business Intelligence – In my current role as the Senior TSBI, I am responsible for working with business and technology teams to fulfill their data needs. I research and analysis data while working with teams to come up with the most appropriate solution. From the onset of a project, I lead the team in making the solutions happen, through to deployment, managing the project deliverables. I have used both waterfall and agile approaches to delivering results using JIRA and Confluence. Requirements are clarified, research done for the correct data, data fields mapped with appropriate transformations as needed, as well as documenting how the process will flow and how all the pieces fit together. I work with developers and QA resources to ensure they understand what the results should be and organizing timelines. I also maintain key relationships with key stakeholders, business users, and governance throughout the project. Within the BMO data warehouse or IDP (Integrated Data Platform); which are on Netezza and Hadoop platforms, I use SQL through Aginity for querying and analysis. I also use PowerDesigner to maintain data lineage, transformation rules and technical specification documents.

Creating, updating, and maintaining complex reporting systems using SSRS and SQL scripting. Supporting and creating data cubes for business analytics with Halo Prism. Analyzing customer needs to recommend and develop technology solutions. Project managing of software installations and upgrades. Using Integration Manager to move data between systems.

Managed all data loads for both a new and legacy system. From before implementation through to automation and reporting, I worked with the clients and business units to insure successful and timely file loads in the Oracle PLSQL environment. This kept pricing, lots, customers and other data up to date per the clients’ needs. I also headed up the SWAT team, which was a rapid response team that identified, researched, and corrected operational issues using SQL Management Studio, DTS Packages, Stored Procedures, and SSIS. This included data errors, policy flow issues, software bugs, database structure problems, and any other issue that prevented the continuous flow process. Continuous process improvement had been made through software breach corrections, additions, making them “smarter”, and streamlined customer load procedures to eliminate duplicates. I dug into problems, found their root cause, worked to find the best possible solution, considering time and resources available. I worked with IT management, developers, business analysts, operations supervisors and client reps to identify and implement cost effective solutions to business and operational issues. Duties also included reporting and analysis of large amounts of business data.

• Data Analyst – Claims Analytics: Conducted internal data analysis for software improvement and external data analysis for clients using MS Access and SQL Management Studio. Prepare presentations for clients and potential clients including reports, charts, and graphs. Examine large amounts of data for accuracy and consistency. Build new Best Practices to help improve client profitability and efficiency. Measure the impact of changes within claims practices on financial performance of clients. Measure the impact catastrophes have on the insurance industry. Contribute and brainstorm new ideas within a team environment.• Database Analyst – Research: Produced and tested back-end data quarterly for the IntegriClaim software package. With over 20,000 line items per database, testing was done through MS Access. Also wrote testing procedures and automated report generation for more timely results. Wrote scripts, analyzed data, trended figures, and automated testing procedures for the BVS software package. Researched and reported trending figures for a third-party software.

Served in the Corps of Engineers as a Carpentry/Masonry Specialist. Experience using basic carpentry tools in framing, sheathing, fabricating, and roofing wooden structures; used basic masonry tools in construction of foundations and walls; used basic concrete tools for foundations, site work, and slabs; surveying; installed conduit; read blueprints; placed anchor bolts and steel reinforcement for concrete and masonry; erected buildings, including floor systems, partitions, roofing systems and stairs; installed doors and windows; maintained carpentry, masonry, and concrete tools; assisted in erection of rough timber and steel stud structures; repaired and renovated existing structures. Also licensed on a 5-ton dump truck and HUMVEE. Supervised up to 7 people on construction sites. Other duties included serving as squad leader, directing and being responsible for junior soldiers. Previous assignments were as an ROTC instructor and unit clerk.

Served as the Data Analyst for the Travel and Fleet Services Team and the Bearings Team through Strategic Sourcing Initiatives. Employed the Strategic Sourcing method for choosing the best vendors for products. Built numerous databases in MS Access and complex spreadsheets in MS Excel to compare data. Provided analysis of market data. Created summary reports for the teams to make decisions. Met with potential vendors and was part of the selection process.

Worked as part of a four person team, programmed and maintained the user interface for their selling tool, using Trilogy products. Maintained a strong working relationship with all product managers to ensure proper representation of their products. Conducted research into application issues. Served as an analyst to determine feasibility of user requests with current system limitations. Upgraded and debugged "product help" web pages. Worked as a help desk administrator for American Family Insurance. Independently upgraded server and workstation software via telephone for client sites. Used Expert-Advisor to track calls, used an MS-Access database to track scheduling status and installation appointments, pcANYWHERE to control the agency site server and workstation, and MS Outlook and Internet Explorer on MS Windows workstations and servers. Additionally, trained agency staff to use MS Outlook and Internet Explorer during this six-week assignment.Worked as a programmer/analyst for Aurora HealthCare. Researched and modified COBOL programs in Signature Clinic Management and Reporting System. Defined statistical and patient information reports. Supported debugging and production job rerunning efforts and off-site printing issues. Utilized JCL, Easytrieve, and ad hoc reports to write an extensive system download to feed into another IS system, thus creating a greater exchange of information between the two systems. Wrote an OLIE script to post commercial insurance. Project included writing five COBOL programs to produce reports summarizing activity in payment posting for electronic remittance notices. Developed several new, ad hoc, and Easytrieve jobs to create reports in the Signature production batch cycle upon direct request by the client. Project resulted in savings of time and money because of the automated process. Participated on a team of up to five during this 2-year project.
