Beginning in 1994 I gained experience as a nurse in long-term care, rehabilitation and dementia care. Joined BPM Senior Living in 1998 working at Sheldon Park Assisted Living/Memory Care in Eugene, initially as a nurse until obtaining my administrator’s license in 2003. I assumed the role as an Executive Director at another BPM property, Regent Court Memory Care in Corvallis, returning in 2006 to Sheldon Park as the Executive Director. Over the next 6 years worked off and on at Regent Court on limited assignments as needs arose. In 2012 returned to Regent Court once again as ED. 2015 accepted the position at Waterford Grand in Eugene, as Memory Care Director.Assigned to U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio's Congressional Team; as a Federal Ambassador through the Alzheimer's Association. Twice I have traveled to Washington D.C. ask lawmakers for increased research funding for Alzheimer's Disease and other types of dementia. 2014 traveled to the state capitol to speak with lawmakers regarding the Silver Alert Bill. Upon telling Senator Betsy Close my story, she repeated it on the Senate Floor and the bill passed with 100% agreement. Spoke at the capitol on a panel regarding dementia care within the state. Yearly I continue to visit the state capitol to engage in conversation with lawmakers who are capable of making positive changes for those who have dementia and their loved ones.2013-2015 Formed the Willamette Gerontology Network. Observing a lack of dementia resources within the Corvallis community, brought in professional speakers to educate the public.
