I am currently the Lead Pre K teacher in a classroom of 15 children ranging in age from 3 - 5 years. We are a nature based school in Stowe Vermont with children ranging from infancy through 5 years. We attend story time at the Stowe public Library and share playground time at the Stowe Elementary School with other preschool programs. We spend the majority of each day outdoors on our own playground, in the woods, or out visiting other local points of interest including the Stowe Recreation Path. I love our nature based approach and am always interested in professional development opportunities that can deepen my teaching practice. I use the Teaching Strategies Gold assessment system to observe and document children's experiences and conduct parent teacher conferences to set goals and review objectives for development and learning with parents. We work as a team of three teachers sharing responsibility for individualized lesson planning and daily organization / maintenance of our classroom. Currently I am in a full day, full year classroom with a rolling enrollment which requires integrating new children into our established classroom on a regular basis. Developed a multicultural curriculum based on the needs of children speaking seven different languages. I worked closely with my assistant teacher to build strong English language and literacy skills in children and their parents. We also worked closely with Family Service Advocates to help families find and apply for services in the Worcester community.
