I am a quilter. As a Solutions Consultant, I bring my love of quilting when assisting my clients. Most think of quilts as padded blankets, not realizing they’re made up of many processes and layers; much like the process of a solutions consultant.You begin a quilt with fabric, high-quality cotton. As a solutions consultant, I always begin with a quality product I have taken the time to thoroughly understand. Next I find a block design that compliments that fabric. This is piecing; measuring and cutting fabric to be reassembled in a new pattern. Every client is a different block design, and their work flow is reviewed to help them understand how my product can improve their processes and productivity. The review helps me understand my client so I can create the best training for them. These blocks create the decorative top of the quilt.While the top requires the most work and attention to detail from me, it’s not the only layer of the quilt. A true quilt consists of three layers; a topper, backing, and batting. The smooth backing is the product’s physical framework that my team has installed and tested, removing any wrinkles. Batting is represented by the support team and system administrators, whose work will continue long after the implementation team has moved on. Finally, the relationships that have been developed between my team and the clients act as the thread that binds these layers together, ensuring our client can continue to grow with the tools and support we have provided. Quilting can be utilitarian, it can highlight the design of the top, or it can be the focal point. Every quilt is unique based on the fabrics and tools used, the skill of the quilter, and the taste of the final owner. Together we craft a better, more efficient way for people to stay competitive in today’s markets on their terms, and help them maintain pride in their craft moving forward.
