Whether for television, magazines, newspapers or online, Jenny Cunningham’s favorite kind of story is the one she hasn’t done before. Case in point, in fall of 2019 she took over the Money Makeover personal finance column in the Seattle Times. In television as a producer and reporter, Cunningham has been honored with broadcast journalism's most prestigious awards including Emmy Awards for stories on biodynamic wine, homelessness and the history of Hanford Nuclear Reservation for KCTS-TV and a breakthrough treatment for stuttering for KOMO-TV which also garnered her the Edward R. Murrow Award for the Best News Series in America. At KCTS, the PBS station in Seattle,an environmental campaign Cunningham created on the health of Puget Sound was given a Telly Award for a community campaign. Also at KCTS, Cunningham won a National Education Writers’ Award for an investigation into the Gates Foundation’s Small Schools strategy. As a freelance writer, Cunningham’s features have appeared in print and online for media outlets including the Guardian, PBS NewsHour, Sunset Magazine, the Seattle Times, Seattle Magazine, Journey Magazine, the Irish Times, the Vancouver Sun and the Oregonian.
