I came up with the idea for FaceForce after researching a legal case in which a company was being sued for comments a user had posted on the company's Facebook ads. Considering how marketing budgets were rapidly shifting from traditional one-way communication channels such as print and TV to social media, I was intrigued by the social aspect of advertising and the legal challenges involved. Seeing the sheer volumes of user generated content posted on Facebook, I asked myself "How can companies protect themselves from harmful comments?". As I couldn't find a clear answer to this, I decided to find a way of using technology and machine learning to provide a cost efficient and highly accurate real-time moderation solution for brands. In early 2016 we pivoted the company from FaceForce to BrandBastion after expanding our solutions from moderation to customer engagement, Messenger bots and insights. We also expanded from being focused primarily on Facebook to many other channels and platforms including Youtube, Instagram and Twitter.
