I direct PEN America's work to fight combating government censorship of colleges and universities, including advocacy on educational gag orders, the Champions of Higher Education initiative of former college presidents, and an expanding network of coalitions to mobilize support for the higher education sector.

I managed PEN America’s advocacy for free expression in educational institutions, advocated against censorious legislation and politically-motivated efforts to ban books and curricular materials, and supported academic freedom in higher education and the freedom to read, learn, and teach in K-12 schools.

I led an organization dedicated to empowering homeschooled children by educating the public and advocating for child-centered, evidence-based policy and practices for families and professionals.

I oversaw communications and marketing for the largest professional association of historians in the United States. I developed and implemented membership recruitment strategy, managed advertiser and media relations, coordinated messaging, assisted with development-related projects, and supervised the communications team.

I was one of 20 Marylanders selected to participate in a six-month progressive leadership training program.
