I am a medicinal chemist with a specialty in library synthesis and purification. I design, synthesize and purify focused sets of novel compounds for both lead finding and lead optimization stages of drug discovery. I am highly skilled in the use of lab automation and instrumentation to rapidly execute synthetic organic transformations and provide purified and characterized final products. I am experienced in identifying structure-activity relationships in a chemical series and using that information to optimize new analogs. I am an expert user of laboratory instrument and purification systems with a specialty in the use of Waters Masslynx mass directed LC/MS purification. I have demonstrated skills in indentifying and establishing laboratory workflows including automated sample handling and management and electronic tracking of reagents and final products. I have been a valuable team player on several global project teams being able to understand and respond to the team’s needs. I have a commitment to lab safety, serving as Chemical Hygiene Officer for three years and implementing a catalyst safety SOP.

I worked at Novartis as a medicinal chemist. I specialized in new analog production in support of drug discovery projects. The main focus of research was lead optimization of cardiovascular drug targets. I also participated in scale-up chemistry to support pre-clinical studies.
