In his Laidlaw Scholarship Research Project, Jerome dived into the topic of 'Communicating emotions through visual means instead of sounds and music' which he wrote a screenplay for a short film to be produced without the use of sounds. In his placement year with Pinewood Group, Jerome's work as a Trainee Sound Editor contributed to the dubbing industry, bridging the language gaps in the field of film and TV. Finally, Jerome's final year research is on the experimentation of creative captions to better reflect sounds and music in screen media for deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences.Apart from his strong passion for filmmaking, Jerome is also a music lover. Jerome's introduction to music started when he was 13 in a school band where he picked up the Tuba. From then, his love for music grew and he picked up the guitar a few years later. In 2017, without prior formal music education, Jerome was one of the top 10 finalists in the 19th XQ:ReChords Regional Chinese songwriting competition organised by the National University of Singapore in conjunction with Ocean Butterflies.
