Key contributor to multi-million dollar, 3 year project for implementation of a new point of sale (POS). One of a 5 member team charged with product evaluation, development, and company rollout of Simphony, MICROS Systems’ first Hospitality Solution using a Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Software as a Service (SaaS). Served as the MS SQL Server 2005 database development and administration expert. Programmed and installed the database for the first four pilot locations and first three rollout locations.▪ Instrumental in improving the usability of Simphony’s Enterprise Management Console, envisioning feature enhancements for product improvements and software development: -- Remote Distribute functionality to move databases between the various database servers (Development  Test  QA  Production) to provide the company the ability to implement proper database lifecycles. -- Cloning Tool functionality allowed the database programmer to move entire properties in one execution step between servers. The enhancement resulted in a savings of 20 programmer work hours per property per development system.▪ Prepared and published technical programming documentation on the Simphony product, tailoring it to adhere to HMSHost policies and procedures.▪ Reviewed, developed, and implemented changes to programming and administration standards to improve ease of use for end users and efficiency of long term maintenance for the centralized support module.▪ Drafted and implemented standardized naming conventions that provided increased reliability of enterprise reporting for more than 350 different food, adult beverage and retail brands, expanding leverage in corporate purchasing discounts and royalty negotiations.▪ Exceptional ability to learn/adapt quickly to new technology: Transitioned from MICROS 8700 (Unix) to MICROS Simphony (MSSQL/Oracle based). Provided leadership for the Centralized Database Maintenance project through planning, developing, implementing and managing data conversion and standardization. Charged with a team of 4 in support of 109 Unix servers/point-of-sale (POS) databases as well as the rollout of Standardization (database programming and installation) to remaining 92 non-standard locations. Proactively monitored performance, optimizing and troubleshooting issues as they arose. Coached and mentored team members, developing and cultivating talents through Individual Development Plans. Conducted annual performance reviews and prepared Weekly Status Reports to highlight the team’s successes throughout the whole organization. Identified work plans considering competing priorities, forecasting problems, envisioning solutions, and delegating appropriately to team members.▪ Redesigned Service Level Agreement (SLA) to ensure timeliness and reliability of completed database maintenance support requests for all locations across 4 time zones. Tracked causes of incomplete/inaccurate database requests, resolved the root causes and ultimately reduced the need for rework by more than 75%.▪ Influential in developing the Enterprise Management tool, improving speed of use, scheduling of database updates, multi-data changes for company-wide initiatives and pricing updates increasing efficiency by 25%.▪ Wrote and implemented MS Access based New Database Request form to standardize the process that Project Managers used to request programming work for new database writes and then subsequently track and report the work being performed across the organization.

Part of a team responsible for the developing the overall support policies and procedures. Contributed to the creation of database standards. Streamlined work flow processes to improve efficiency of the database. Recognized for leadership skills and as a future leader in the company; chosen to attend in house management training “Super Essentials.”▪ Assisted with the development, testing and implementation of the Enterprise Maintenance (EM) tool in the centralized support module. The EM tool enabled the team to perform more work in less time with fewer staff, eliminating the need for 2 team member positions.▪ Instrumental in the rollout of database/server standardization to 109 of the total 201 sites.▪ Created and automated the running of shell scripts for gathering metrics/data changes and disseminating reports to appropriate departments within the company, proactively managing the operating system and installed software, and eliminating the requirement of human intervention.▪ Represented the Systems Department in 5 different company-wide project initiatives, one of which I managed the implementation schedule. This project was completed 1 month ahead of schedule resulting in a reduction of sales discounts by 2%.
