In addition to my position as Product Development Coordinator at Eastern Mountain Sports I also am the Photoshoot Assistant. During COVID-19, our factories were closed down for weeks on end. I took it upon myself offer a helping hand in Marketing Department. I begin attending photoshoots in the Fall of 2020 as a model. From there the Art Director saw my passion for the brand and quick knowledge of all styles and asked me to become her photoshoot assistant. Starting with Spring 2021, we began working together to create a vision for each photoshoot. It usually takes us around three to four weeks to finalize the location, models and outfits for the photoshoot. While on location, I am responsible for assigning models their outfits and directing them to their spots. I work with the Art Director to insure that we are not missing any small details (i.e. hidden pocket/zippers). We can do up to four to five photoshoots per season depending on how many style we bring in. While working at Eastern Mountain Sports I have learned organization, punctuality, communication and leading a helping hand are all qualities need to make a company successful.

As the Product Development Coordinator at Eastern Mountain Sports I am the key organizer between Design, Tech Design, Sourcing and Marketing. Before our season begins, I work with our Lead Designer to compile trend research for color, design, fabric and trim inspiration. From there I will reach out to fabric mills and trim suppliers for samples. It’s also at this time I check on current cost and availability of any old fabrics, insulations and trims we wish to still use. During development, I sit with our Lead Designer to review sketches and insure that we are optimizing our use of fabric shares, color cohesion and EMS branding. Once the sketches are complete, I will use our PLM system to create new style #s and Bill of Materials (BOMs). Once our Buyer confirms our order, I will compile a final color palette and use it to assign trim and lining colors to all apparel and outerwear styles. After the Purchase Orders (POs) are sent out I am responsible for labdips, print strike offs and fabric testing for each style. I also review all Proto, Pre-Production and Top of Production sample for each style and colorway. Also during the season I review weekly Work in Progress Reports (WIPs) from all vendors. In post development I begin assembling the Style Guide, which is a detailed outline for each style we made that season. I make sure to include style name, style #, retail price, fabric information, technical finish, fit information, colorways and CAD drawings of each colorway. This is a great tool for our web team and stores team to use so they can quickly problem solve when questions arise. As a Product Development Intern it was my duty to check in samples when they arrive and check them with the trim sheet to make sure that they matched. If there was a mistake I would make note of it so I could be discussed in meetings with Marketing and Sales. I not only worked with Product Development I also got to sit in on meeting with Marketing and Sales which helped me see how the product truly evolved and was entered into the line. I was also able to travel to NYC to the showroom to see how the buyers also interact with brand during market week.

I taught first grade students who were below the standard reading level new ways to approach reading. My goal was to higher their reading level so they could move on to the second grade.
