For the past twenty years I have been collaborating with scientists and land stewards throughout Southeastern New York State promoting science-based management. By focusing and deepening research in the Shawangunk Mountains and synthesizing that research, I have worked to guide and increase support for ecological management in a regionally significant landscape.As Shawangunk Ridge Biodiversity Partnership (SRBP) Research and Management Subcommittee Chair, I facilitated development of a series of three year ecological management workplans that function as a roadmap for partner collaboration to build integrity and resilience in our ecological communities while establishing landscape connections through the mid-Hudson region. I received a $150,000 State Wildlife Grant to study the impacts of deer overbrowsing on songbirds and coordinate Shawangunk deer management programs. I am currently conducting a bio-assessment of the John Burroughs Sanctuary and will develop a land stewardship plan based on that survey.
