NSSN accelerates solutions to complex and critical challenges by translating world-class smart sensing research into innovative solutions that create value for the economy, environment, and society of NSW and beyond.Bringing together universities, industry, and government NSSN addresses national challenges in energy, resources, manufacturing, the environment, transport, agriculture, space and health with sensing technologies and services.

✦ Design and drive a suite of strategic organisation-wide research enablement programs to future proof CSIRO’s research portfolio and organisational capabilities.✦ Liaise and build key strategic relationships with a wide network of stakeholders, including state and federal government ministries, chief scientists, national and international universities and research institutions, industry groups, private enterprises and peak bodies. ✦ Lead CSIRO’s engagements with Department of Innovation Science & Research (DISR) on national initiatives including the Diversity in STEM Review (DiSTEM) and the National Science and Research Priorities (NSRP).✦ Represent CSIRO at National and International forums and events as a keynote speaker, panellist, facilitator and contributor across the spectrum of CSIRO science areas. ACHIEVEMENTS✦ Lead and delivered internal strategic programs to inform and support CSIRO's research strategy including:- Led the development of CSIRO’s Future Industries (FI) Challenge Strategy articulating the critical role for collaborative R&D in areas such as Innovative and Productive Manufacturing, Novel Materials & Devices, Digital and Quantum Technologies to deliver a diversified industrial base to ensure the future prosperity of Australian industry. - $110m award winning, scientific recruitment campaign attracting 200 early to mid-career researchers (EMCR), 50 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander science graduates, and 30 enterprise services graduates. - Identified and prioritised disruptive science areas positioned to radicalise the innovation landscape by 2040 in CSIRO's Future Science and Technology Report.

With over 150 scientists and engineers the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) works with industry and health sector partners to enable the digital transformation of healthcare to improve services and clinical treatment for Australians.RESPONSIBILITIES ✦ Oversee commercial and research outputs, ensuring superior delivery of innovation initiatives in areas such as data interoperability, digital therapeutics, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT). ✦ Provide oversight for activities including finance, HR, resource management, HSE, facilities, regulatory compliance, communications and leadership development. ✦ With input from the Board co-develop, implement and report on the AeHRC Growth Strategy. ✦ Establish and nurture an extensive stakeholder network encompassing industry providers, healthcare services, government bodies, universities and research institutes. ✦ Lead CSIRO’s Health portfolio in New South Wales, including a relocation to the Westmead Health and Education Precinct. ACHIEVEMENTS✦ Established exciting new programs of work with key industry and government partners including Dedalus, Johnson and Johnson Med Devices, HealthDirect, National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Therapeutics Goods Administration, Australian Digital Health Agency, Department of Health and Aging and NSW Health, leading to the licensing and transfer of AeHRC technology nationally and internationally. ✦ Developed CSIRO’s Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) Strategy.✦ Delivered high impact research collaborations including with Johnson & Johnson Med Devices to develop and clinically validate a novel virtual care technology platform that empowers knee replacement patients to influence their own recovery.✦ Secured exciting new scientific projects at the Westmead Health & Education Precinct in Bioinformatics for Gene-editing and Phage therapy, and AI to improve the outcomes for pre-term babies.✦ Awarded the CSIRO Medal for Diversity & Inclusion
