Director Of Planning & Development/Zoning Administrator
CurrentProvide expertise and support to the Village Board, Plan Commission and other Village Committees on the planning and zoning activities of the Village. This is done through oversight of the daily operations of the Planning & Development Department including to plan, supervise and coordinate the planning activities of the Village; to administer and enforce the zoning regulations of the Village; to oversee the Building Inspection activities of the Village; to plan and oversee the Refuse & Recycling activities of the Village; to oversee the Private Well Program for the Village; assist the Administrator and Village Board with the economic development and community development activities of the Village and to do related work and tasks as required and assigned.
Interim Administrator
Served as Co-Interim Administrator with two other Department Directors to keep the Village operating between the retirement of the previous Administrator and the start of the newly appointed Administrator. During this time I was responsible for the administration of all day-to-day operations of the village government while also performing my duties as the Village Planning & Development Director/Zoning Administrator.
Community Development Director/Zoning Administrator
Review building permits and development applications for compliance with zoning and land use regulations. Review various permit applications with respect to zoning and Village ordinance compliance. Respond to inquiries from public and development community with respect to zoning compliance. Provide oversight and expertise to the Village Plan Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals and Village Board with respect to zoning and land use regulations. Administers the Village's Zoning ordinance, Comprehensive Plan, FEMA floodplain regulations and WDNR recycling grant program. Administer the Village's Census Program through a partnership with the US Census Bureau in preparation for the 2010 Census. Co-administer the Village's public communication efforts through the development and maintenance of the Village's website and social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter and RSS feeds). Co-leader of the Village's New Generations Initiative to obtain more involvement from the younger taxpayers of the Village on quality of life issues. All Community Development Director duties as described below.

Manage and coordinated the Village's planning and zoning function through the technical review of CSM, site plans, zoning requests, environmental review, utility issues and drainage management. Day to day administration of the Planning Commission. Managed a taxpayer-investor database that tracks citizen requests for Village service. Subsequently, acted as a liaison between Village employees and the taxpayer community to ensure fulfillment of requests in a timely manner. Code enforcement. Monitored taxpayer-investor satisfaction level through measurement devices such as surveys, neighborhood meetings, ect. to establish bench marks of organizational performance. Special Project Manager on Village initiatives deemed necessary by Board, Committee or the Administrator in the areas of Economic Development, Planning and Park and Recreation. Act as a liaison to Marathon County on strategic and Comprehensive Planning for the community and coordinate the Village's Planning Commission Function.
Comprehensive Planner - Planner Ii
Led a team of County staff and hired Planning Consultants to begin the Marathon County Comprehensive Planning Process, a multi-jurisdictional plan involving the County and its 62 municipalities. Educated local government officials and the general public on the comprehensive planning process and the importance of planning for our communities for the future via meetings, workshops, presentations, newsletters and other publications. Administered the County's 208 Sewer Service Area Program by assisting communities with plan amendments and serving as the liaison between the communities and the WDNR during these plan amends.
Land Use Planner - Planner I
PLANNER I. Educated local government officials and the general public on the 1999 Comprehensive Planning Legislation through presentations, workshops, newsletters and other publications. Participated on a team of County staff to develop the process the County would use to create a multi-jurisdictional planning process to assist the County and its 62 municipalities with meeting the requirements of the 1999 Comprehensive Planning Legislation. Wrote and administered an $862,000 Comprehensive Planning Grant from the State of Wisconsin on behalf of Marathon County and the participating communities. Researched, wrote and prepared plans for the County on land use planning related topics such as groundwater management and sewer service. Assisted local government officials and the general public with land use planning related issues.
