Minnesota Housing is a state agency that works to provide access to safe, decent and affordable housing and to build stronger communities across the state. As Communications Director, Jill is a member of the Servant Leadership Team at the agency. She leads the communications team, overseeing all internal and external communications. External projects include launching the marketing and outreach efforts on behalf of the $518 million rental assistance program, RentHelpMN, and the $128 million homeowner assistance fund, HomeHelpMN (coming soon). Internal projects include "The Daily," now "The Weekly," an all-staff email initiated the first day staff began working remotely in March 2020 to build morale and staff connections. In this role, Jill has built her skills in working with reporters, hosting press conferences, writing speeches, launching major new initiatives, and implementing crisis communications.

Greater Minnesota Housing Fund invests in affordable housing and sustainable development to strengthen communities in Greater Minnesota and ensure that everyone has a safe, decent and affordable place to call home. Jill manages internal and external communications including annual reports, media releases, website development, plans, presentations, and social media. She conducts research, writes, and project manages the publication of large-scale research reports on topics like employer-assisted housing, mergers among housing organizations, and approaches to building better neighborhoods. In her role as Development Director, Jill has raised $22 million in resources for the organization since Q1 2017. Jill is involved in the behind-the-scenes project management and fiscal sponsorship of the Governor's Task Force on Housing and Prosperity's Front Door.

Circle in the Field Media creates virtual support groups via video for people going through crises. The Circle in the Field: Hospice video shares diverse stories of the lived experience of handling a terminal diagnosis, focusing on what hospice services and care can do to allow the final days of a life to be peaceful and comfortable for a dying person, and for family and friends.

Wrote press releases, policy papers, grant proposals and reports, annual reports, and other materials for a variety of nonprofits in Minnesota. Issues included land use, transportation, affordable housing, and neuroscience. Work included research and original writing, editing, interviews, graphic design, and communications planning.

Managed written and strategic communications for Envision Minnesota (formerly 1000 Friends of Minnesota), including the organization's 2011 name change. Founder of the Emmy award-winning Legacy Letters video project produced with Twin Cities Public Television. Project manager for the Creative Placemaking and New Metropolis Minnesota educational forums. Wrote sustainable land-use reports, such as "Refocus: Making Choices for Future Generations" and "The New Metropolis Viewers' Guide." Directed development efforts with Minnesota foundations and individual supporters of the organization.

Edited and designed the Minnesota APA's chapter newsletter for nine years. Developed content, worked with contributing writers, coordinated ads, and redesigned the newsletter with new logo. Moved the newsletter from print-based to online.

Conducted urban/regional research on socioeconomic trends and commuting patterns, including contributing author of chapter in Region: Planning the Future of the Twin Cities; overhauled website; project managed and edited reports and contributed articles to academic publications; prepared and submitted grant proposals and reports to McKnight, Ford, Macarthur, and other national foundations.
