Research and Development Manager• Managed the quality program leading up to successful ISO certification in Aug 2015.• Led the team that developed the first successful generation of diamond road planarizing picks.• Managed the wear parts program, driving the creation of demonstrators such as the world’s first superhard material roller bearing.Principal Research Scientist• Developed a unique diamond process capability facilitating the world’s first large-scale diamond laser windows.• Developed the diamond hi-fi speaker dome (given the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation in 2012).• Formulated the complete theory of CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposited) diamond strength enabling accurate design predictions.

Project Manager• Managed the construction of a 5 MW solar project now supplying power for Tucson Electric Power (winner of the ENR [Engineering News Record] 2015 Best Energy / Industrial Project), and of a solar energy storage plant at the New Mexico Sandia Laboratory.Project Developer• Championed, and developed the business case for, the process steam market that caused a complete change in company strategy.• Managed the development of 1.2 GW of utility-scale solar projects ($0.5B value), including environmental permitting, and negotiating private land contracts, and power contracts with state utility companies.
