Responsible for budget execution, force protection, direction of the training program, and relationship building/outreach to local, state, and federal government representatives. Responsible for 11 formal programs of instruction as well as six Service Level Training Events annually. Pursued and gained approval for 6 new Military Occupational Specialties (3 each for Officer/Enlisted) for military Mountain Leaders (summer/winter/ both), to recognize and track these unique skills. Managed a 346 acre base camp with over 40 buildings (classrooms, dining facility, stables), a 1000 foot Expeditionary Airfield (EAF), independent power generation, and wastewater treatment plant. Oversight of 111 family housing units, dormitories for over 2000, 5 miles of improved roads, 40 miles of unimproved roads, and a vehicle fleet of over 200. Managed Marine Corps Police and Fire Departments serving two separate communities and with significant Mutual Support Agreements with neighboring civilian agencies. Supervised Safety and Environmental compliance for 11 wide-ranging departments and offices at two installations. Oversight on execution of budgets up to $40 Million and personnel payrolls of up to $6.5 Million. Exercised oversight on fundraising, budget planning, and execution for separate line of Family Readiness Funds. Pursued and gained approval for MCMWTC to qualify for Independent Duty Funds for all servicemembers stationed at MCMWTC; a five-fold increase in funds available for these critical quality of life programs. Significant interaction with officials from US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and numerous state and local stakeholders. Led internal and external communications through Town Hall style events regarding how current and future operations would impact employees and their families.
