CurrentAs a writer and managing editor at Northwest Quarterly Magazine], I get to wake up every morning, go to an office filled with awesome people and combine my deep love of storytelling with zeal for creating the best editorial possible for our readers and interview subjects. Northwest Quarterly is a regional publication for northwestern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.My responsibilities include:Creating lineups for each of our Rockford region magazine issues (typically 6 issues per year). I am responsible for collaborating with my senior editor and publisher, pitching topical stories for each issue that cover a huge gambit of topics that showcase individuals and organizations throughout our region. I am also responsible for overseeing a stable of delightful and talented freelancers and providing the resources they need to get their stories published by deadline. I am guided by our magazine's strict editorial standards, ensuring that all of our content adheres to AP style guidelines and our own publication's high quality style standards.Crafting compelling, thought-provoking articles and features that resonate with our readership. My writing spans a diverse range of topics, from lifestyle and culture to in-depth business profiles and investigative pieces.I've had the pleasure of collaborating with our small but mighty graphics team to coordinate photo shoots and create visually appealing and impactful layouts that captivate our readers.Growing our magazine's online presence and engagement through the creation of captivating videos that supplement our editorial content and cover a rich tapestry of subjects, from nature photography, to haunted tours, to tulip farms and many things in between!I am thrilled to be part of a dynamic team that values creativity, storytelling, and journalistic integrity.
