Upon completion of Basic Training and Officers Course in 1983, James went on to command a battery of Howitzer cannons as the Platoon Commander. With approximately 50+ Marines under his command, James gained invaluable experience handling issues with new Marines and the complexities of command leadership. James was later promoted to Executive Officer of a counter-artillery radar battery whose mission was to locate and neutralize enemy artillery on the battlefield and also held a Top Secret Security clearance as the officer in charge of a team tasked with the safe transport of nuclear weapons.His time in the United States Marine Corps laid the foundation for James' successful leadership abilities and his "can do" attitude when it comes to the sometimes challenging customer service requests.
