About Jing-Wei Yang
When I was a junior high school student, I became fascinated with Gundam (a robot animation). I was interested in nuclear power, which provides the energy source for the Gundam. This led me to explore the field of physics. As I embarked on my journey of studying physics, I was deeply captivated by its rigor, profound, and artistic aspects. Throughout my learning and research in physics, I like to do hands-on experimentation and switch between top-down and bottom-up approaches to analyze theoretical models or experimental phenomena. This allows me to explore multiple perspectives and better understand the problem.Today, we are facing challenges in fundamental physics breakthroughs and the practical applications of quantum physics. I eagerly look forward to utilizing my atomic physics and nanotechnology background to contribute to areas such as atomic chips, quantum simulations, and quantum computing. I hope to identify physics problems that resonate with me personally, akin to Schrödinger and his wave equation or Landau and his Landau levels, and work towards solving them. I work on bridging the gap between theoretical and experimental physics, striving to become a well-rounded physicist and using visualization techniques to showcase the vitality of physics. RESEARCH INTERESTSLight-matter interaction, Quantum optics, Laser cooling, Superconducting physicsQuantum simulation, Bose-Einstein condensation, BCS-BEC crossover physicsHONORS/AWARDS/ SCHOLARSHIP2022: Excellent Oral Presentation Award2021: Student Paper Award2019: National Science Council Research Scholarship2016-2019: The Award of Outstanding Student for Academic Achievement2016: Excellence in the 2016 Taiwan Young-Student Physics Tournament2015: The Best Teaching Assistant of Service-Learning at CCU Physics TEACHING EXPERIENCE 2020-2021: Lecturer of Creative Physics Courses2020-2021: Lecturer of NTU Maker ClubTeaching Assistant of Undergraduate Course:2018-2019: Theoretical Mechanics2019: Mathematics of Physics2016: Service-LearningEXTRACURRICULAR AND VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES2020-2021: President of NTU Student Chapter of SPIE 2020-2021: President and Lecturer of Maker Club NTU 2018-2019: Founder of Aristotle Academy 2016-2019: President of the CCU Maker Space

Researcher
I contribute to Foxconn Research Institute's endeavor to develop ion trap quantum computers. Drawing upon my background in atomic physics and nanophotonics, my role involves assembling ion traps, both traditional X-blade and surface-electrode trap designs. This entails creating modular optical systems, laser cooling 171Yb+ ions, and designing integrated photonic waveguides for laser light delivery.
