My responsibilities at the Internet of Things Group at Intel were somewhat broad, given my experience. Categorical examples follow:Infrastructure as Code: developed code that enhanced the stand-up of a Rancher 1.x management plane backed by Vault all on AWS. Notably, this consisted of developing custom CloudFormation resources (Lambda-backed, Go runtime) that automated Vault initialization (init, unseal) and token renewals and rotation.Software Delivery: developed AWS CodePipeline and Jenkins Pipeline for various projects to assist with artifact build and delivery. Proposed and developed https://github.com/edgexfoundry/git-semver (a Git CLI drop-in, inspired by the Concourse SemVer resource) to support the establishment and maintenance of Semantic Versions when building release branches for EdgeX projects.Pathfinding (self-assembling Docker Swarms on consumer-grade compute): developed an integration consisting of Serf and Docker on both RancherOS and a custom LinuxKit operating system to be installed on consumer-grade compute. Nodes in a heterogeneous compute array found peers and established, over secured channels, a Docker Swarm which was leveraged as a general purpose workload consolidation backplane. It is also the largest grower and distributor of aloe based products in the world.My contributions at Forever began with bug-fixes and enhancements to to our public and distributor-facing e-commerce applications which led to principal construction for replacements of both our marketing (public) and distributor (member) applications in 2010 and 2011 respectively.As development lead I advocated for better tools for managing our process and artifacts and as such have deployed and manage Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Stash, and Nexus installations. I also led the team out of the dark ages of centralized version control (Subversion) and into the glorious light of DVCS (Git).As development lead I worked with my team to adopt Java EE 6 and leverage it through a clustered JBoss EAP 6 installation. We achieved significantly better performance, reliability, ease of deployment, and maintainability of our code-base by choosing this platform/container as the target for all new development of our web services and applications.

Development of website and back-end systems to support U.S. government's Health & Human Services (HHS) IRS SSA data match web application for employers. This is an existing program that employers (typically larger) are requested to participate in to assist the Medicare program in determining the proper coverage for employees who may or may not have insurance through Medicare.- Designed and developed entity and data access classes utilizing Hibernate.- Implemented middle tier (aka business logic) code that utilized EJB Stateless Session beans to encapsulate our transactional requirements. - Supported and troubleshooted the Struts/JSP web application in its interactions with the EJB layer.

I started Entheal LLC with a good friend that I had met while we were both employed at ProObject and working on a contract at Thompson/Prometric. My partner and I were singularly concerned with working various Java/J2EE development contracts in the Baltimore-DC corridor.

Development and/or maintenance of multiple applications for G.1440 and its clients utilizing MySQL, MS SQL Server, Hibernate, Tomcat, and JBoss. - Shored up www.postaroo.com with multiple bug-fixes. Also implemented simple pagination and scheduling for database cleanup and email notifications. - Implemented improvements and bug-fixes for G.1440's custom job posting and candidate management webapp as requested by Sinclair Broadcast Group, G.1440's parent company. - Many improvements and bug-fixes for another G.1440 Struts webapp that is custom-developed for home builders (www.englehomes.com, www.newmarkhomes.com). This application includes an administration piece which was my primary focus—this module allows builders to maintain and customize their own content in a structured environment. - Many major enhancements and fixes for the struts webapp behind www.harbourhomes.com and soon to be www.riversidehome.com which is built on the same core as engle/newmark mentioned above but extends it much further, most specifically, to include real-time interaction with G.1440’s builder sales platform, Sales1440, via webservices (in both directions).

Assisted in fixing bugs and developing new software to meet requirements in a very mixed environment utilizing Dynamo and Weblogic servers and the Java programming language. - Wrote an effective HTTP tunneling servlet to handle Real Audio data streams tailored to a locked down network environment. This servlet operated in both Dynamo and Weblogic containers. - Updated XML and XSL throughout the application to fix presentation logic issues. - Updated and developed new JHTML and JSP pages for the application. - Updated existing EJB's to meet requirements for the application.

Developed GUI application that demonstrates real-time distributed whiteboard collaboration utilizing Java and JMS. Other pieces of the application include access to arbitrary desktops via AT&T Oxford Research Lab’s VNC. - Rewrote AT&T ORL’s VNC implementation to be more efficient and reusable in Java Swing as well as support for full 24-bit color (16 and 8 bit runtime configurable support as well) and displaying large screens in scrollable areas. - Implemented a reusable distributed whiteboard component that utilized Jboss.org’s implementation of JMS (Java Messaging Service) for event channel dispatch and communication.

Various Java ServerPages were also written for presentation and manipulation of the receipts data. - Installation and configuration of both Weblogic 5.1 and Oracle 8i on a Red Hat Linux 6.2 box. - Design and development of multiple entity and session beans. Session beans have option to deliver either Entity Bean remote references or simple data objects.

Developed persistence layer components in Java that encapsulated a small set of financial business rules and supplied interface implementations that CORBA clients could connect to for persisting and manipulating application data stored in DB2. - Wrote a code generator that queries database structure and generates CORBA IDL structs, SQL scripts, and Java wrapper classes that encapsulate the IDL structs (and hence the database tables) for Java clients. Development was primarily on NT with deployment to both AIX and NT servers.

Participated in two OOA/D internal projects. Worked to put together presentation and reverse-engineering information on an already-delivered internal project. - Wrote multiple Java ServerPages (JSP) for Sylvan/Prometric’s 2test.com website. A BEA Systems Weblogic server was used as the Java Servlets/JSP platform. Many of these pages utilize functionality implemented in business logic EJBs but a few accesses a MS SQL Server database directly. - Worked with a team performing object-oriented analysis and design using Rational Rose, the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and UML. Developed command and control client/server software for a generic remote controlled vehicle (GRV) in Java using Visual Café and the JDK. - Wrote a simple multi-threaded ASCII string-based RPC server suitable for deployment in any networked environment but specifically targeted for x86 Windows (Win32 and WinCE) machines. This was simultaneously completed in both VC++ and Java development environments. - Participated in a porting (Solaris to NT) effort for a Java application that integrates COTS packages and a Sybase database. Primary contributions were in a team environment working with ESRI ArcView GIS 3.x to work with the application as originally designed, touching up the GUI, and preparing the application and supporting materials for presentation-part of which included reverse-engineering this project in Rational Rose for post-analysis and possible re-engineering. - Developed Java Servlets to supply user and application-specific information via a web browser.- Developed multiple reporting and processing servlet modules for an internet-based system designed to administer and store the data associated with lease end-of-term vehicles. A working familiarity with JavaScript and HTML were natural side affects of this effort.

In-house development and contracting at Legg Mason in Baltimore, MD- Designed and developed multiple middleware solutions utilizing Java, C/C++, VB, CORBA, COM/DCOM + MTS, Entera/TCP, and SQL on multiple RDBMS platforms (Oracle, Sybase, Microsoft) via ODBC and JDBC. - Designed and developed an ActiveX component library utilizing VC++ that incorporated a homegrown, company-wide applications and data security model into an object-oriented framework usable by ActiveX-aware--specifically but not limited to Visual Basic--client applications. This component library was designed specifically to be independent and mitigate client dependencies of which context it was run under; COM, DCOM, or MTS+DCOM. - Developed and maintained Entera/TCP servers for middleware that interacted with Sybase databases on behalf of client applications. Some of these were as simple as RDBMS table interfaces and others contained embedded business logic. - Evaluated Sybase Jaguar Component Transaction Server and Microsoft Transaction Server for integration. This project consisted of test design and implementation. - Development of a middleware query server to interface with various Java Servlets and an Oracle 7 database. - Participated in the working design of a ticker plant using a data feed developed with Java and CORBA technologies. Tested and refined this design in a research development environment with the intent to produce an application suitable for online stock quotes and portfolio management. - Generalized the above-mentioned design into a distributed application component framework and applied it to an application that gathered ACD auditing quality information and placed it in an Oracle 7 database.
