North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System was formed in 1997 with the merger of North Shore Health System and Long Island Jewish Medical Center. It is the largest provider of health care services in the New York metropolitan region and one of the largest healthcare systems in the nation. Seventeen hospitals, three long-term care facilities, a major research center, the area’s major home-care, hospice and ambulance providers, and a network of approximately 400 ambulatory sites comprise the Health System. ► I am a member of the anesthesiology medical staff for the following healthcare institutions: ✔ Long Island Jewish Medical Center - shares the title of clinical and academic hub of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. It is an 827-bed voluntary, non-profit tertiary care teaching hospital serving the greater New York metropolitan area. ✔ North Shore University Hospital - NSUH is one of the cornerstones of the North Shore-LIJ Health System, providing the full spectrum of clinical health care services for patients of all ages. Specialties include open-heart surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, urology and maternal-fetal medicine. ✔ Glen Cove Hospital - a member of the NS/LIJ Health System, Glen Cove has been serving neighboring communities for more than 90 years. ✔ Plainview Hospital - Plainview is an acute care community hospital with 239 beds located on 888 Old Country Road in Plainview, NY. This Level II trauma center is one of the 15 member hospitals that make-up the North Shore-LIJ Health System. ✔ Forrest Hills - a general medical and surgical hospital in Northern Queens and an award-winning member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. Syosset Hospital became a member of the North Shore health system in 1995, prior to the merger with Long Island Jewish Medical Center. The hospital’s 136 beds include a special care unit and a psychiatric wing. The Emergency Department treats more than 15,000 patients each year and has a trauma unit and eight treatment beds. ► Associated with the hospital as a member of the medical staff since 2005. Established in 1916, Huntington Hospital is a full-service, 408-bed, nonprofit community hospital serving Huntington Township and surrounding communities. In 1994, Huntington Hospital became a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. ► Member of the medical staff since 1994. Additionally selected as Director of both the Acute Pain Management Service and Blood Conservation Program departments in August 2011.
