Jenn Hill is a Consultant with 5 Lakes Energy, working on policy development, analysis, and advocacy with a focus on preparing rural regions for energy transition and climate change. Current projects include education campaigns about the benefits of renewable energy options and fostering deployment of electric vehicles and building electrification.

UPPER PENINSULA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS - Lead consultant for Energy Task Force formed in January 2017 to develop Energy Plan for Upper Peninsula Michigan. Drive policy development, coordinate with state, federal and regional partners and co-facilitate monthly meetings. CLIMATE ADAPTATION TASK FORCE - co-chaired Upper Peninsula Smart Energy Conference July 2016, coordinated Climate Resilience Toolkit implementation workshop with senior NOAA staff October 2015 and present on climate adaptation to local, regional and national groups.ALLIANCE FOR THE GREAT LAKES - Provided research and facilitation to support formation of the Great Lakes Education Collaborative to strengthen environmental education and foster stewardship in the Great Lakes basin. GENESEE COUNTY PARKS – Developed strategy and wrote grants to support arts and cultural programming; identified funding sources from federal and private sources. MICHIGAN FITNESS FOUNDATION & CRIM FITNESS FOUNDATION - Facilitated coalition of ten community groups and five government agencies to submit invited proposal to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation "Healthy Kids, Healthy Communities"​, including coordinating 15 letters of support and co-writing narrative. Grant process lasted from April - September 2009; awarded four-year, $360,000 grant.MICHIGAN HISTORIC PRESERVATION NETWORK - Moderated event, coordinated speakers and panelists, wrote press releases and marketing for fundraising workshop "Fund It Right, Protect It Forever: Fundraising for Small Nonprofit Historic Preservation Organizations"​ on June 20-22, 2013.ROCHESTER SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA - Led strategic planning session and wrote grant proposal to support RSO's 53rd season offering musical excellence.TRANS4M MICHIGAN - Led workshop on effective meetings and facilitated creation of a theory of change for a statewide coalition working to create a stronger Michigan through transportation policy reform.

Elected to serve the City of Marquette, Michigan on November 6, 2018 for a three-year term. Re-elected in November 2021. Served as Mayor Pro-Tem in 2020 and 2021.

Managed the Upper Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative to expand classrooms and strengthen communities in central Upper Peninsula Michigan. Wrote proposals for education, climate change and energy transition programs raising $275,000 in 2 years.

• Carried on work began at Ruth Mott Foundation, co-leader of the Michigan Cultural Data Project Task Force, a partnership of foundations, arts advocates and the state arts council, to launch the Cultural Data Project in Michigan in May 2010. • Developed communications plan and marketing messages in variety of media to recruit funders and arts organizations to join the project. Worked with Task Force members, met annual participation goals, leading to 18 funders and more than 600 organizations joining the project.• Presented to hundreds of arts and culture groups about the project, providing the Michigan perspective on the value of the project. • Led the research and design team to publish Creative State Michigan at www.CreativeStateMI.org, using data from the Michigan Cultural Data Project and other sources.

• Managed over 40 grants with 30+ grantees totaling $2.3 million, including tracking performance, managing relationships, and writing program assessments in the areas of beautification, health promotion and the arts• Led task force of foundations, art advocates and state arts council to raise funds to bring Pew Charitable Trust’s Cultural Data Project to Michigan as a source of reliable, comprehensive information about the cultural sector and to help arts groups monitor their financial and organizational data online and use this information to apply for grants• Recruited potential grantees and developed extensive network of community advocates and topic area experts; assisted applicants and worked in Program and Administrative staff teams to streamline the funding process• Served on Arts Affinity and Land Use Funders Groups with the Council of Michigan Foundations and the 2008 National Conference Committee for Grantmakers for Effective Organizations

• As first Executive Director, built sustainable communities through joint environmental action by facilitating community projects: established schoolyard nutritional education gardens, extended community path/bikeway into underserved neighborhoods, and created gardens in forgotten public spaces• Coordinator of Somerville Active Living by Design, supported the social and physical changes to make the city a place where routine physical activity and healthy eating would be accessible, easy and affordable to everyone. Led team with five community agencies and city government through 9-month application process to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, one of 25 in the US awarded the five year grant.• Hired/managed staff, directed fundraising and strategic planning, and created promotional campaigns and events.

Established training program for 24 public high school science teachers whose students regularly monitored water quality and biodiversity along three rivers.
