Pensacola Engraving
Before going into business for myself, I worked at a place that I consider to be the boot camp for all things related to publishing, printing, advertising, selling and marketing. Pensacola Engraving was owned by Gene Foote. On any given day, he was either your best friend or worst nightmare. In the morning he would say you were like a son to him. That afternoon you would be fired again. But I stayed on for 5 years and learned more about the industry than I could have learned in any book. And as long as I stayed out of Mr. Foote's way, I had the run of the place. It was here that I learn about wax machines, rubylith, typesetting, kerning, exposure, stripping, plates, web, offset, burning, dodging, rubber cement and Canadian whiskey. Boy, I could write a book.
