Currently teaching 9th grade Intro to Ethnic Studies and Academic Language Development at Capuchino High School in San Bruno. Serves as the 9th grade team facilitator. In fall 2018, was the first teacher to pilot 9th grade ethnic studies in the district, resulting in the class becoming a graduation requirement at all SMUHSD schools in the 2020-2021 school year. Previously taught Modern World History and Contemporary World Studies.

Arlington, Va

Taught AP World History, Modern World History, and Sociology at Washington-Liberty High School. Created and executed engaging lessons that appealed to a variety of learning styles. Aligned curriculum with lessons to prepare students for the Virginia Standards of Learning exam held at the end of the year. Worked with staff and parents to help students succeed in and out of the classroom. Previously taught 8th grade World Geography at Gunston Middle School and was honored as the 2014 Teacher of the Year.

Performed the duties equivalent to a dean of faculty. Supported 30 instructional staff members from a variety of educational backgrounds. Conducted classroom observations and frequent conferences with staff to provide feedback and mentoring on teaching strategies and classroom management. Addressed student performance issues and oversaw the editing of student evaluation. Supervised an academic dean's assistant and worked with other administrative staff members to ensure a quality and enriching program for students and staff.

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of for the Center For Talented Youth site office. Communicated promptly, clearly and sensitively administrators, staff, students, the host institution, and the CTY Baltimore office. Along with other administrative staff members, opened the inaugural CTY site in Hong Kong in the summer of 2010. Held a previous position as a Residential Program Assistant for the Johns Hopkins’ flagship CTY site in Baltimore, Maryland from 2004-2006.

Experience in teaching 11th Grade United States History & Government, 9th Grade Global History & Geography, and 12th Grade Economics. Created and implemented student-centered, goal-oriented lessons that followed the New York State Social Studies curriculum in preparation for the New York Regents Exams. Facilitated active learning through cooperative learning, technology and various forms of media. Communicated with parents and other staff members to ensure the success of students.

Adapted Global History & Geography curriculum for two levels of 10th grade classes – Regents level and Special Education Inclusion. Designed and implemented daily lessons, unit plans and assessment tools. Developed and maintained effective classroom management strategies.

Served over 1,750 community hours in and around the five boroughs of New York City. Worked as part of a diverse team of ten corps members to transform the learning environment of Public School 50 in East Harlem through tutoring and mentoring. Planned and led a variety of community service projects around the New York City area.
