Negotiating is my passion.I am a litigator in the areas of Business and Innovations Law, including Patents, Trademarks, Franchising, and commercial transactions. I am also General Legal Counsel for businesses across North America, and inventors, artists, and athletes from around the world.My hobbies include collecting accreditations like my Sports Agent license and my Microsoft AI Fundamentals certification. I have been on a law school faculty, teaching litigation-focused courses such as Evidence, Litigation Drafting, and Legal Research & Writing. I have served as a Magistrate, and was the youngest person ever appointed to preside over a Florida court.At the largest tech conference in Western Canada, I am an annual speaker, exploring topics such as the intellectual property issues in generative AI and tech accessibility challenges. I deliver seminars for in-house counsel and companies on liability risk mitigation, managing external counsel, and emerging topics such as ESG (environmental, social, & governance) law.The Canadian Bar Association (CBA) invited me to share best practices with lawyers who are helping local clients navigate the Privacy Law issues of the European GDPR legislation. I also delivered a CBA seminar about disclosure obligations when lawyers rely on generative AI to produce legal work. I have been a Legal Issues speaker for the International Franchise Association, the Canadian Cannabis Summit, and the American Medical Writers' Association.With my experience and training across continents, I have served as an expert witness in European court, providing direction and legal opinion as to the practice of law and legal procedure in North America.I was a legal analyst for a news syndicate, relating to a trademark lawsuit involving Michael Kors. I have further shared legal opinions with the media with respect to copyright laws, trade secrets, and personal injury.UCLA's Journal of Law and Technology published my dissertation about how AI's creations do not fit into the traditional Intellectual Property laws in North America, and further, that AI could be litigation-proof. I previously published the manuscript, “Stealing What’s Free: Exploring Compensation to Body Parts Sources for Their Contribution to Profitable Biomedical Research” in the Franklin Pierce Law Review journal.My community involvement includes serving on the Board of Cybera, the Board of the Calgary French and International School, and the Board of Community Futures Centre West. I served my terms as Director for the Weizmann League and Digital Alberta.
