Responsible for leadership, development, and implementation of nursing education and professional development innovation for the Department of Nursing across the Mayo Clinic enterprise. Provide administrative and operational direction for activities, systems, processes, and functions related to nursing education and professional development. Identify priorities, strategies, and tactics to drive improvement in nursing care meeting defined nurse and patient outcomes. This role requires working in diverse environments across Arizona, Florida, Rochester, and Mayo Clinic Health Systems. Frequently communicate ideas, coach, mentor, and manage resources to meet strategic goals.

Supervise 15 Nursing Education Specialist who support a variety of clinical practices and programs, including critical care, progressive care, emergency department, solid organ transplant, float pool, infection prevention, wound/ostomy, cardiology, leadership development, evidence-based practice, education technologies, and communication. Responsible for education and coordination of clinical education programs for registered nurses and allied health staff including budget oversight for purchasing education technologies and facilitating vendor contracts. Project Manager for the enterprise Orientation/Onboarding Mobile Application project. The goal of this project is to improve the orientation/onboarding experience for new employees by leveraging mobile devices at the point of care. Co-lead for the first Hack for Health Innovation event in 2021 supported by the Arizona Clinical Practice Committee 2021 Innovation award. This event allows participants to address an everyday pain point with the goal of enhancing digital transformation, improving patient, and/or staff satisfaction. Advisor for the Nursing New Knowledge & Innovation Subcommittee and chair for the Nursing Coordinating Subcommittee. Provide oversight for the Evidence-Based Practice program, publication/presentation process, and support nursing research activities. Implemented the High Acuity Fellowship transitions to practice program for aspiring critical care and emergency department nurses. Co-lead the development of a workload capture system for Nursing Education Specialist based on the ANPD scopes and standards.

Responsible for all aspects of the ANCC Magnet® application and the first successful designation in 2017. Advised the Nurse Executive Committee, nursing leadership, and department committee structures related to the designation process. Served as a liaison with the ANCC Magnet® office. Implemented organizational strategies and infrastructure to support clinical quality, operational effectiveness, and shared governance components of the Magnet Recognition Program®. Led a revitalization of the Nursing Committee Structure. Engaged staff in the implementation of the nursing strategic plan including a robust communication plan. Defined, prioritized, and achieved goals/objectives with a focus on structure, process, and patient/staff outcomes related to the Magnet® Model.

Provided expert, integrated, quality patient care management through care coordination for high-risk adult solid organ transplant and progressive care patient populations across the care continuum. Served as an educator, consultant, mentor, and collaborator within the interdisciplinary team. Demonstrated committee leadership and actively sought to improve nursing practice through evidence-based practice and quality improvement initiatives.
