What struck me at the time, and continues to strike me, is the depth of skill & domain knowledge, and the inviting atmosphere of our engineering department. Our team represents over three hundred years of combined experience designing capital equipment. I have been fortunate to work with, coach and influence many exceptional mechanical and electrical engineers and designers, and to help them advance within their careers.In this role, I provide day to day supervision, project based oversight, and personnel development. Our projects often span multiple continents and multiple outsource engineering partners, necessitating strong international technology transfer. In addition, we operate regular cross functional continuous improvement teams improving our business performance and customers' outcomes. Other tools we regularly use are Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), 3D modeling using Autodesk Inventor. Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human Machine Interface (HMI).

After Diamond Products acquired the Grooving and Grinding Division of Boart Longyear in 2005, I assumed the position of Division Chief Engineer. In this role, it was my job to build our engineering department from the ground up. This included staffing our new department, establishing our software and IT infrastructure, creating procedures, and developing priorities for documenting our existing designs as well as innovating new products. While fulfilling this role, I also supported our domestic and international customers from the office and hands-on from the road.

I was instrumental in the designs of new hydraulic and mobile control systems, including PLC based systems. I also traveled extensively providing customer service and equipment support. The Grooving and Grinding Division of Boart Longyear was sold to Diamond Products in 2005.
