Part of preparing an aircraft for flight is making sure they’re equipped with supplies for any situation. Responsible for ensuring that all flight and safety equipment is in perfect working order, as a Life Support technician, I made sure aircrew had the supplies necessary for any situation. From packing emergency items like parachutes, survival vests and survival kits to maintaining regularly used items like flight helmets, oxygen masks, restraint harnesses and night vision equipment, the attention to detail I provided could mean the difference between life and death.Besides providing emergency equipment onboard the HC-130 and MC-130 aircraft and H-53, H-60, and H-1 helicopters and training on life support equipment, I provided refresher combat survival training to crewmembers in case they get shot down and are forced to be placed in a survival situation.I am a certified survival instructor for arctic, desert, land, water and S.E.R.E (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape).
