Engineers Without Boarders is a non-profit organization that is involved with the implementation of sustainable engineering projects around the world. For the University of Rochester chapter of the organization, I have been an active member since September 2021 and became fundraising coordinator in December 2021. In this role, I plan events across campus to raise money for our chapter projects and recruit other ambitious engineering students to join the club.

During my summer internship at Shurtape, I had the opportunity to lead a critical project that significantly enhanced the company's analytical capabilities. This project not only strengthened the company's scientific approach but also empowered the team to predict performance characteristics, modify adhesive formulations, and set the foundation for future Py-GC/MS method development. This position involved maintaining and collecting industrial hemp and willow samples. Then performing an array of DNA extraction methods, depending on the sample type, followed by genetic analysis. During this position I learned many common lab techniques and knowledge of typical lab equipment.(Position held intermittently May to August, 2021 and May to August, 2022.)

During this internship, I had the opportunity to shadow physicians in various medical departments. This experience has had a significant influence on my desire to potentially go to medical school in the future. The conversations that I was able to have with medical professionals helped to develop my communication skills and a basic understanding of clinical ettiequte.
