As an SSA, I play a central role in Guild’s mission to empower students to chart paths toward meaningful careers and pioneer education as a benefit with universities and Fortune 1000 companies. From our headquarters in downtown Denver, I work with remote students from all across the world every day, coaching and helping them navigate the challenges of work, school, and life as they pursue job training or degree programs in an online setting.

Provide individualized educational support and guidance in academic planning and career awareness for 8th -12th grade students in Denver Public Schools. Conduct occasional small group sessions in response to identified needs.Collaborate with DPS faculty, staff, and parents to better understand and meet the needs of students; work with school personnel to strengthen school resources and response to meet student needs.Meet with parents to obtain information and to gain an understanding of the family and community background, support parents in engaging in the educational process.Assist, manage, and counsel students’ volunteer mentors.Assist students and their families in resolving issues which interfere with educational, social and personal development.Refer families to appropriate resources with support from parent program staff.

Educational Outreach Specialists help to engage students in their education, assist them in school transitions, and ensuring that they are enrolled in school. I am a member of the Counseling Department of the school, and as such I am a student advocate who will assist them on a regular basis to overcome whatever barriers are preventing them from attending school.

Team Leaders are school based senior corps members who lead team initiatives such as school related projects and community engagement. In addition I support my Program Manager in maintaining sustainable school house relationships and service delivery. Throughout the service year I work with my team to provide peer coaching in increasing their service delivery and navigating their corps experience.
