It is my passion to develop and to deliver to the market, life-changing products and services. I have had the good fortune of working in the medical field as a Business Unit Manager for virtual microscopy products, serving medical schools and pathology laboratories; the lighting industry as a product manager for Philips Lighting as part of a team that revolutionized the electronic ballast industry with new technologies for improved lighting efficiencies and energy savings. I credit my passion in product development to my first professional role as a field engineer for a small, medical start-up company later acquired by Becton Dickinson. It was here where I learned the importance of developing innovative products that improve the every day activities of my customers, the business, and ultimately, the lives of the patients, depending on the technology. Since joining Joerns Healthcare in 2005, my primary role at has been to identify and develop new products and services for the patient handling division that provide product superiority with innovative solutions and total quality. I have also played a key role in developing the product user manuals, training guidelines, and marketing materials for the Hoyer Pro patient handling family. The patient handling business unit has the vision of putting people first by considering those people most affected: the elderly, the ill, the disabled, their families, and their caregivers.In my Business Development role at Joerns, I work closely with the clinical education team to develop and bring to market effective training and support programs to provide on-going education, ensuring effective implementation of injury prevention programs and solutions. Along with rest of the patient handling team, I participate in regional, state and national conferences as well as educational events promoting safe patient handling in order to ensure the Joerns portfolio continues to be aligned with national policies and directives.
