I joined the United States Air Force in September 2007, and have been in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) career field for 14 years. I received initial technical school training at Sheppard AFB, TX where I was awarded my Apprenticeship in April 2008. My first duty station after training was Ellsworth AFB, SD where I received On the Job Training (OJT) experience and later received a Journeyman and Craftsman Skill Level (Sep 2012). During my four-year tour at Ellsworth, I sharpened my skills in troubleshooting various HVAC systems along with performing recurring maintenance, system overhauls, system piping fabrication, and the installation of multiple chiller and boiler systems. I completed three deployments downrange where I served as an on-call HVAC/R service technician for work centers, dining facilities, hospital clinics, and dormitories. I also maintained and performed repairs on a wide variety of deployable contingency HVAC/R equipment. During my active duty service, I received the Community College of the Air Force Degree in HVAC/R Electrical & Mechanical Technology (3 Jan 2012). I then pursued the HVACR Engineering Technology & Energy Management online B.S. degree program through Ferris State University. As a noncommissioned officer stationed at Holloman AFB, I served as an HVAC/R Craftsman and crew leader between 2013 and 2016. In the New Mexico heat, I was responsible for directing 24 military and civilian technicians in performing corrective and preventative maintenance actions, maintaining a 1.3K base facility infrastructure. Over the course of 12 years, I learned from many seasoned civil service and military craftsmen, shop foremen, and supervisors. Additionally, at Sheppard AFB, TX I served as an HVAC/R Curriculum Development Manager (CDM) for the 366th Training Squadron. As a CDM, I designed, developed, and validated effective instructional programs, training literature, and measurement instruments for military students in the HVAC/R career field. I evaluated the effectiveness of the instructional design and modify the content accordingly. I frequently planned, developed, and revised the content, organization, and format of the instructional materials to meet educational standards. I prepared material in the form of study guides, hands-on performance objectives, practical exercises, and instructor manuals. I recently joined the 819th Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineer (RED HORSE) unit at Malmstrom AFB, MT and became the Section Chief of Contingency Training..
