In my time there it was a strong, healthy, and growing sector, securing and delivering significant contacts for the airport community. My primary role was to provide and manage the design services for the sector. This required me to resource and maintain sufficient levels of design managers with a strong, dedicated pool of consultants to meet the current and planned workloads. The design managers and consultants delivered excellent results and did not compromise safety, quality and timely delivery. Extremely proud and honoured to collaborate with them. During my early years with Morgan Sindall I also performed the duties of a senior design manager as well. Working closely with the senior management team during this time, enabled me to demonstrate the qualities and performance required to move into the role of head of design. One of the most significant achievements was working up and delivering the Design Management bid submission for the Heathrow Airport Limited (HAL) Q6 Framework Contract, delivering a £2 billion budget of works over 3 - 5years. Morgan Sindall was one of the four successful contractors appointed. Using the NEC form of contract, we were required to take the design from typically RIBA stage 2/3 through to completion.By Implementing my successful design management bid approach, it enabled the design managers with the consultants to deliver our commitment to:• Compliance to HAL’s requirements and governance• Achieve programme constraints• Deliver best value and quality, within budget • Safe through construction and continued into maintenance of the assets. The contract works fell within the following categories: asset replacement, resilience, and passenger experience. It is anticipated that MS would of completed 37 projects over the period.
