Engineering Technician
CurrentElectronauts is a mid-sized panel shop and cable assembler outside of Cincinnati. For my first co-op semester, I gained experience by building control panels and keeping inventory. During my time as a builder I revised the process of building specific control panels for a repeat client in order to save man hours and reduce human error. For my second co-op semester at Electronauts I worked in the engineering office. I began by reading schematics and building Bills of Material for orders. After a few weeks I was taught to use AutoCAD Electrical in order to transcribe schematics that were built in a software called SkyCAD for a client. During my last quarter of working at Electronauts I was taught how to redline drawings. When I had downtime I would QC panels by running point to points or some clients had software to QC their panels, which I would run.I enjoyed working at Electronauts and while I already knew the value of communication and teamwork, Electronauts furthered my understanding of how these concepts are connected. The people I worked with were great and always willing to lend a helping hand when I was stuck on something I've never seen before. This is something I hope to do for the people I work with in the future.
