Laboratory Technician
CurrentMy primary responsibility at Ixom Watercare is managing the laboratory's day-to-day operations. However, my responsibilities expand to other operations and departments.• As part of managing the laboratory, I am responsible for the following: o Overseeing laboratory workflow. o Managing data. o I am responsible for writing water treatment feasibility reports for potential clients. o Writing reports for existing clients on the condition of their treatment process. o Present data and findings. o Writing and updating SOPs. o Writing capital expenditure reports for new equipment. o Chemical management is also my responsibility, which includes: Chemical inventory. Ensure safe and adequate chemical storage. Managing SDS'. Ordering chemicals when needed.• In addition to managing the laboratory, I also analyzed and tested the treatability of PFAS contaminants in water, which included: o Constructing and running an in-house mini-pilot to test the effectiveness of MIEX resin for removing PFAS from water. o Jar-testing different resin blends for PFAS removal. o Testing different regeneration conditions to recover PFAS from ion exchange resin. Tested various methanol/brine ratios. Tested how differing pH levels affected PFAS regeneration. Tested kinetics of regens for removing PFAS from resin.• I have also taken on the role of creating purchase order numbers through SAP software. • Office and laboratory safety are also part of my duties, which include: o Office and laboratory audit and carry out corrective actions from the audits. o Monthly eyewash, safety shower, and fire extinguisher inspections are part of my responsibilities. o Setting up annual fire extinguisher servicing is also part of my safety duties.
