I have completed a wide range of freelance writing and editing projects since 2012. On the writing side, I have profiled Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo and former Chicago Bears Brandon Marshall and Charles Tillman for Splash, a magazine owned by the Chicago Sun-Times. As an editor, I worked on "The Boys in Brown," a book about the 2010 Carmel Catholic High School football team, which was released on Amazon in September of 2015.

I manage a network of full-time and freelance reporters while coordinating sports coverage for 10 community newspapers and websites in Chicago’s northern suburbs. I write (occasionally contributing to the Chicago Tribune online and in print), edit and co-host a weekly golf podcast called Teeing Off, which can be found on iTunes. I have helped grow the company’s presence on social media sites Facebook (fb.com/SportsPioneerPress) and Twitter (@Pioneer_Press, which has gained more than 2,500 followers since its launch), and I have fostered a daily newspaper mindset by publishing local sports news when it happens.

I took phone calls and entered scores and statistics into the Daily Herald’s online agate program. I also wrote a weekly article on local colleges and covered high school sports for print and the web.

Schaumburg, Ill.

I was responsible for editing course content, training materials and other documents for all of Career Education Corporation's online universities. I used organization and time-management skills to balance a workload that included course texts from six universities. I developed an intricate knowledge of both APA and MLA formatting.

Ketchikan, Alaska

I planned sports coverage, wrote and edited articles and headlines, took and edited photos, designed sports pages five times each week and managed photographers and freelance writers in the region. I created a Twitter account, helping the paper connect with readers via social media for the first time.

Milwaukee

I planned sports coverage, wrote and edited articles, assisted with production and design of sports pages and trained new sports reporters and bloggers. I contributed to BigEastSportsBlog.com during the Marquette men’s basketball season, made weekly appearances on Marquette’s student television and radio stations and was featured in an ESPN interview previewing a men’s basketball game between Connecticut and Marquette. I previously served on staff as a sports reporter, sports copy editor and assistant sports editor.
