I am an engineer because I love being able to fix machines and solve real world problems. My interest started with robotics competitions that required addressing specific tasks. Now, my experiences are evolving into design teams and hands on engineering classes where I can continue improving my problem-solving skills. In high school I built a house and learned more from that than I did in most classes because all the math, techniques and construction skills I learned from the experience were cemented into my mind by a feeling of success and pride that comes from constructing something that serves a good purpose. I am a good leader on group projects and keep a good humor no matter how stressful a task gets. When a firefighting themed robot overheated and caught fire during a competition, I was able to calm my team and appreciate the irony of what had happened as I rushed to replace wires and servos. I like working with people because I can always keep a good sense of humor when faced with challenged.Any task requires the right tools, and now my tools are Solid Works and Mills and Lathes. On the Hyperloop design team, I design structures for tasks like measuring the effectiveness of motors, and I help in the manufacturing of parts for the high-speed train. I am excited to continue learning and getting to use more tools that will allow me to do bigger projects. I have replaced two car engines in my free time and like to help my friends with car work. I like that I can help myself and others with my work.Skills: SolidWorks 3D modeling and drafting. Using Mills and Lathes
