John Devaney is Perkins Coie’s Managing Partner-Elect and will assume his leadership of the firm on January 1, 2015. John has been a long-term leader and manager at Perkins Coie, holding a number of firmwide roles, including as a member of the Executive Committee and of the Management Committee, where John was one of four lawyers responsible for the daily operation of the firm. He also is a former Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.In his practice, John focuses on commercial litigation, political law litigation and communications law. He has represented clients in dozens of proceedings before federal courts, state courts and administrative agencies throughout the country. During his 30-year career, John also has represented clients in more than 20 appeals, including appeals before the U.S. Courts of Appeals and administrative appeals before U.S. district courts. Following his clerkship with the Honorable George Gallagher, the Honorable Hubert Pair, the Honorable Gerard Reilly and the Honorable J.
