To complete the internship requirement set forth by Lindenwood University after COVID-19 caused the untimely cessation of my in-person internship for the collections project, I was permitted the opportunity to perform the role of research assistant for Dr. Jeffrey Smith, who was in the process of co-authoring his book 'Death and the Lost Cause' set for release in 2022. I was tasked with researching and assembling a cohesive and comprehensive database of Confederate cemeteries and memorials throughout the American South following the Civil War, which should play no small part in the development of the thesis for his work.

During my internship at the First MO State Capitol State Historic Site, I worked under the direction of Ms. Sara Hodge who was the Assistante Site Administrator and current Curator and Special Collections Librarian at the St Louis Mercantile Library. At this internship I was taught the maintenance of collections as well as the establishment of acquisition policy, and the utility of collections management software such as PastPerfect. I also was able to expand my research experience when detailing different items in the collection.
