John Eldridge MBE FNI is a freelance expert in CBRN countermeasures in both the military and civil protection fields. He is a frequent presenter to worldwide printed and broadcast media on CBRN matters. He edited IHS Jane’s Nuclear Biological and Chemical Defence for 9 years until 2006 and remains an established regular contributer to JCBRN as well as a freelance writer on defence, arms control and disarmament affairs, maintaining a close eye on CBRN matters and on middle eastern politics.John’s 27 year Royal Navy career at sea, included 10 years as a helicopter pilot and war service in the Falklands in 1982 as executive officer of HMS PENELOPE. A spell as the Navy’s chief CBRNe ship trainer, followed by 18 months in command of HMS GUERNSEY, preceded his appointment as the MoD(Navy)’s principal CBRNe policy adviser and Chairman of an influential NATO CBRNe equipment group.Recalled to service in 2003, he spent 3 years working for the MoD on information operations.In the meantime, John continues to research and contribute to CBRN issues and is an authority on wider defence and geopolitical issues.John, a fluent French speaker, and his family live in UK.Specialties: Wide experience of defence and geopolitical affairs, specialising in CBRN capabilities and countermeasures.
