When I was 17, I left my country for the first time and went to India. As an exchange student, my eyes were opened to the world outside of Plainfield, Indiana and a profound wanderlust awoke in me. When I got back, I decided to study International Studies and Religious Studies at Indiana University with the hopes of someday working for the Department of State.I continued to travel in college - I spent seven months in Morocco - and after I graduated I decided to teach English abroad in China. After three years of teaching, I decided it was time to come back home and start working towards a career. I had studied Mandarin while I was in China, and French while I was in Morocco, but I figured it was time to start developing some hard skills. When I got home, I started looking in to government work and decided to enlist in the Military. Despite all I experienced and learned while I was traveling, the clearest thing I realized was how much I truly love my country and how I took it for granted. I decided I could best serve my country with my mind, so I decided on the Military Occupational Specialty 35F - All-source Intelligence Analyst and I enlisted in the Army National Guard. Now I work at the NGA in St. Louis as a civilian contractor as I continue to serve as a soldier in the National Guard.
