Responsibilities and essential job functions include: Serving as NPB’s senior manager, responsible to provide strategic support to the CEO, to oversee organizational goal-setting and accountability measurements and to facilitate cross-departmental coordination. Guiding the development and execution of NPB’s strategic plan and business goals and objectives in close consultation with the Board of Directors and the CEO. Working to ensure NPB departments are focused and progressing in achieving annual goals through collaboration with senior management.o Is responsible for the day to day operations of the National Pork Board (NPB) when CEO is absent o Serves as the primary NPB liaison with USDA and represents NPB to public audiences in venues as assigned by the CEO

Responsible to provide strategic support to the CEO, to oversee organizational goal-setting and accountability measurements and to facilitate cross-departmental coordination, to direct high-level, cross-functional projects that require engagement and direction from the NPB Board of Directors or senior management team.

Advising clients on agricultural issues, especially as related to conservation and the environment.

• Administered federal farm subsidy and disaster assistance programs, disbursing $15-$25 billion annually• Senior USDA representative at staff conferences negotiating key portions of the 2008 Farm Bill • Implemented suite of new conservation practices for the national Conservation Reserve Program• Initiated the $400 million overhaul and updating of FSA’s information technology systems• Served as FSA policy and position spokesman for media, and trade and commodity associations• Supervised 200+ employees in four divisions• Interacted regularly with members of the U.S. Congress and Committee staff• Directed national FSA programs in 50 state offices and 2400 county offices

• Managed Virginia FSA state office and 50 county offices, supervising 200+ employees• Administered Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program Agreements, committing over $150 million to improve water quality in southern Virginia rivers and the Chesapeake Bay

• Marketed Sheaffer Modular Reclamation and Reuse Systems for privatizing treatment and recyling of wastewater• Negotiated contracts with customers and farmers• Managed government relations and developed coalitions• Resolved permit issues with regulatory agencies• Provided project management assistance for construction and operation of Sheaffer projects in the eastern U.S

• Coordinated the first statewide agreement in the nation among poultry companies to protect water quality, and for this effort, the Federation earned the 1995 “Friend of the Chesapeake Bay Award”• Received grant from Virginia Environmental Endowment to research alternative wastewater treatment methods to avoid polluting waterways.• Represented poultry industry policies and concerns to governments at the federal, state and local levels• Served as primary media spokesman for the industry• Directed all activities of the 1,200-member Federation

• Initiated largest program in Virginia to test private wells for nitrate and pesticides• Initiated first program in Virginia to recycle used pesticide containers• Represented Farm Bureau members at Virginia’s General Assembly and with U.S. congressional delegation• Represented Farm Bureau to media, regulatory agencies and other groups on environmental and natural resource issues, including:o Non-point source pollutiono Pesticide regulationo Nutrient managemento Chesapeake Bay protection programs o Land use regulation o Wetlands regulation, and more

Advised farmers in a 16 county area of central Virginia on proper use of manures and commercial fertilizers to protect water quality of the Chesapeake Bay. Coordinated activities with Cooperative Extension Service, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, and local Soil & Water Conservation Districts.

In partnership with my father I owned and managed an 800 acre farming operation in central NJ. The operation consisted primarily of cash grain (wheat and soybeans), alfalfa hay, and a small amount of direct retail produce. I procured and applied inputs, marketed crops, and directed staff. During this time we installed the largest soil conservation project in central NJ.
