Beyond delivering dozens of Dashboard in a day (DIAD) training sessions over the past year I spent my time designing, developing, and deploying BI solutions using the Microsoft BI stack including SQL Server, Power BI, Excel, SSIS, SSRS, & SSAS. As a Scorecard BI Analyst I validated scorecards, developed insights from financial data, and more. This role made extensive use of skills in Excel, Power BI, relational databases, and cubes. This role required me to be a proactive self-starter who worked decisively with or without direct supervision and maintain a high level of performance under pressure and tight deadlines. My specific responsibilities included validating multiple complex financial scorecards for multiple monthly publish cycles while engaging with metric owners to negotiate publication cadence timing and issue resolution. I worked with a team of analysts to develop insights from financial data, write commentary, and present and defend findings with evidence to multiple levels of stakeholders. My previous experience working with Microsoft Finance analytical projects helped me to leverage strong financial and analytical acumen to dig into data and understand standard financial reporting and write analytical commentary which was presented regularly, design and support automated reporting systems and deliver multiple complex technical deliverables. I used Microsoft Excel daily including authoring and troubleshooting standard formulas and functions (SUM, AVERAGE, IF, VLOOKUP, etc.), advanced functions (CUBEMEMBER, CUBEVALUE), pivot tables, macros, VBA, Power Pivot, Power Query, etc. I built on my strong experience in Power BI including report development and publish, data gateways, DAX, and an ability to produce aesthetically pleasing results. I worked regularly with relational and multidimensional database and cube environments at an enterprise scale. I regularly wrote and improved TSQL, MDX, DAX, and VBA code to support solutions under pressure within tight deadlines working efficiently, effectively, decisively with or without direct supervision. In other projects, I worked as a service engineer manager leading a team of 5 consultants in multiple global locations.

Tower Records was a retail music chain based in Sacramento, California from 1960 until 2006. The corporate name was MTS Inc., but this was little-known compared to the much more widely recognized Tower Records. Retail products included DVDs, CDs, videos, video games, posters, books, collectibles, and accessories. Tower operated many retail stores in the United States, which closed when Tower Records filed for bankruptcy and liquidation. I started my journey with Tower in Mesa, Arizona right out of high school, and eventually moved to bot Las Vegas, Nevada and finally Seattle, Washington working at various locations. During my tenure I served in many roles, spending 5+ years as an end user, workgroup administrator, and data steward for a large UNIX based Informix database and integrated IBM POS system in a practical business scenario.Responsible for one on one personal customer service activities including the “name that tune” game and other genre specific research to delight customers. I answered phone calls and ran POS based sales activities for record and video counters.Responsible for all aspects of store operations including staff training, process adherence, scheduling, cash handling, and conflict resolution for a rotating staff.Responsible for buying retail inventory from various global and national suppliers (mostly major label record companies), physically merchandising retail product, and tracking sales patterns.
