Played lead roles in multiple NATO studies over the past 10 years (which includes winning a 2008 NATO Scientific Achievement Award). Current support includes: day-to-day oversight of the NATO Non-Lethal Weapons Capabilities-Based Assessment (SAS-078) and the efforts of its 10 participating nations and 3 NATO organizations, authoring and presenting a paper at the recent Analytical Support to Defence Transformation Symposium (SAS-081), and ongoing support to the Non-Lethal Capabilities Defence Against Terrorism initiative (DAT-11). Other major responsibilities have included strategic planning and alternative futures analysis (supporting the development of Vision documents, organizational plans, and concepts), extensive Joint Capabilities Integration Development System (JCIDS) contributions, policy assessments (authoring the policy annex of the NLW Joint Mission Area Analysis/Joint Mission Need Analysis), and analysis of the insurgency in Iraq’s Anbar Province.

This included on-the-ground operations analysis support for the Combined Joint Task Force in Somalia and for Commander, IFOR/SFOR in Bosnia, as well as two years of direct support to Commanding General, I MEF at Camp Pendleton, California. Major responsibilities included: strategic and operational planning (Service-specific and Joint, military-only and interagency, national and international, for various force levels, and across a range of operations and functions); organizational and process analysis (leading multiple project teams that analyzed headquarters functions to improve the division of responsibilities within and across headquarters and to eliminate functional overlaps and gaps); exercise and wargame design, implementation, and analysis (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Joint, and interagency); and analysis of weapons and systems (including NLW, Combat Logistics Force, sealift, and prepositioning programs).Major awards include a Meritorious Civilian Service Award, awarded by the United States Marine Corps and the NATO Medal for Service, awarded for analysis support provided to COMIFOR in Bosnia.
